Neuropelveology (NP) is a specialty that combines concepts from neurosurgery and complex pelvic surgery. It
was first described by Prof. Dr. Marc Possover in 2001 in an article about the treatment of neuropathic pain
(caused by nerve injury) after surgery. This field includes everything from a meticulous clinical diagnosis
to the treatment of conditions involving nerves and nerve roots in the pelvis, aiming to achieve an accurate
diagnosis of nerve pathology and its exact location, as well as its clinical or surgical treatment.
Pelvic nerve disorders are diverse and can have various causes. It is important to note that the pelvic
region houses a complex network of nerves that regulate numerous bodily functions, including the control of
muscles, organs, and sensory perceptions.
